Boy, it’s early & I’m about off to the airport.

  Can’t wait to get to the show.  Oh the joy of being surrounded by booths and booths of needlework stuff! 

I should be there in time to get registered if my flights go as planned. 

 It seems a little strange, but I’m having to fly to Atlanta from Richmond, Virginia to get to Columbus, Ohio.Only a little round about, but–hey–I get to use my free SkyMiles. 

What’s a little layover whith a good book to read.  For some reason I can’t stitch in airports & ever since I forgot to take a pair of nail scissors out of my cosmetic I get a little paranoid about things being confiscated. 

 Well, gotta run.  Will be back in the shop on Tuesday.  Know I’ll have lots of new stuff to talk about.  Until then keep. . .

I got my suitcases down & started packing for TNNA last night.  I usually pack & repack 2 or 3 times. 

I’ve promised myself to travel light this time because I always have so much literature on new products & such to bring back. 

 I always try to take classes at the show, some technique & some business, either way I feel like it helps me help my customers. 

I am taking a class on blocking needlepoint.  It’s one of those things I taught myself to do, & I can’t to find out what tips a professional finisher has to offer.

  I’m always getting asked by customers about blocking so I’m looking forward to having up-dated tips to pass along. 

 Another class I’m really excited to take is with my buddy, Tink Boord-Dill about setting up on-line shopping. 

I’m in the process of setting up my on-line shop starting with needlepoint canvases.   This has been a real learning experience for me–I’m no computer wiz–so I can’t wait to see what Tink has to teach me! 

Hope to have my shop up & running shortly after TNNA! 

Bennie, by the way has proven to be an escape artist!

As we were sitting with him on the deck this morning, I noticed he was looking longingly over the rail so I moved a few flower pots and chair to block the most logical route of escape. 

Wander back in the house for another cup of coffey.  Next thing I know husband is calling “Help” & there, as you might have already guessed, there is Bennie sniffing happily away.

 So much for my strategy of keeping Bennie on the deck.  Sure do hope our invisible fence guy comes today!

Thinking of Stitching

Can’t believe TNNA  (that stands for The National NeedleArts Association) is almost here. That’s where we shop owners go to find lots of neat new needlework stuff.  

 This year the summer show is in Columbus, Ohio & I get to leave Thursday bright  & early. 

I just realized that’s the day after tomorrow–panic time for packing.  Clothes aren’t really an issue for me–it’s making sure I have comfortable shoes ’cause we do  a lot of walking! 

 Then there’s deciding what needlework project to carry along.  As most of you have probably experienced, the lighting in hotel rooms are notoriously bad so I need something with big holes for me to see. 

I think I’ve about decided on a monogram that I’m stitching for a luggage tag from Lee’s Needle Arts. 

I found the monogram in Tink Boord-Dill’s book–Alphabets - Eclectic & Interesting.  The luggage tag is lime green & I found a perfect green in Watercolours to coordinate. 

 Hmmm-I might have to bring along a punch needle project too.  I’m teaching a punch needle class this summer & can always use more models. 

 I’ve been eyeing a really colorful Lizzie Kate design called “Picnic”–how fitting for a summer class–don’t you think?!

  By the way we got Bennie home yesterday & he is so-o-o sweet.  He rode for 2 hours with his head in my lap. 

Since Bennie is a rescue Bassett Hound he has had a hard start in life, & he’s really scared of sounds or being left alone.  We thought he would have to sleep in our bedroom, but surprised us by staying on his bed in the kitchen all night long. 

 He’s coming into the shop to visit later today.  He needs to start practicing hi shop mascot job!  ‘Til later

Can’t believe it’s Memorial Day.  Summer is just around the corner. 

This is truly going to be a memorable Memorial Day for us because this is the day we pick up Bennie.  Bennie is a Rescue Bassett Hound we’re adopting from BROOD (Bassett Rescue of Old Dominion). 

We’ll be off to pick him up shortly.  He’s in a foster home about 2 hours from us so we’ve got a full day ahead. 

After we get Bennie settled in, I’ll have time to catch you up on some needlework stuff that’s been going on.

First of all, I’m an avid stitcher and owner of Caroline’s Thread & Canvas in Ashland, Virginia. Yes, CT&C’s is a needlework shop–and yes, my name really is Caroline!

My specialty is needlepoint, but I also carry crewel, cross stitch, and lots of neat stitching gadgets.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have a blog so I could share some *News and Views* with other stitchers.

This is really exciting to FINALLY get it up and running. 

Believe you me, if it hadn’t been for my buddy, Tink Boord-Dill, I’d still be sitting here staring at a blank screen. 

 At least in between the computer talk, we did get to discuss her plans for another “Holiday Recipe” Exchange on her Armchair Chef Blog. 

 Somehow I find it a lot more fun talking about recipes and stitching than computer stuff, but without it I couldn’t stay in touch with my fellow stitchers.  So here I am. . .
